I took a day off today, to recover from the open beach hut and other life, and pootled a little further around the coast. I found my next renovation project; the “Enchantress Tower” at Rye Harbour.
It is one of 74 defensive towers built on the south coast between 1805 and 1808 for, according to Sir Walter Scott, “the sole purpose of puzzling posterity”.
