Well, there’s no denying it any longer. The Coastal Currents brochure is out – and we’re in it.
Coastal Currents is a visual arts festival covering Hastings, St-Leonard’s and Bexhill; curated live performances and commissioned artworks, as well as open studios, exhibitions and events.
Beach Hut 123, along with 45 other studios, homes, gardens and beach huts, will be open to the public showing glass sculptures and jewellery, silver and copper jewellery, linocuts, hand-thrown ceramics and photographic prints by three south coast artists.
Lynne Boon
Lynne is a 3D designer who creates large-scale 3D themed experiences -exhibitions, interiors and theatrical events – bringing to life some of the world’s biggest brands.
For Coastal Currents, Lynne brings her 3D design skills to a much smaller scale with her fused glass sculptures.
Heather Mathieson
Heather’s background is in zoology and countryside management, but with kids and a decade of travelling the world, her dream of becoming David Attenborough’s protégé was stymied. It turns out this was no bad thing. Heather has managed to arrange her love for printmaking and pottery to suit her nomadic lifestyle and family commitments.
Her knowledge and love of animal life is obvious from her artwork, although her subjects are prone to occasional flights of fancy.
Miranda Waugh
Miranda is a story-teller and creative communications nut. From the written word on page or screen to large scale exhibition design and graphics, Miranda works with environment, heritage and arts industries, with corporate clients, and with anyone who has a story to tell.
Raised with a camera in hand, Miranda has graduated from Box Brownie and cyanotype prints via Nikon and Leica to an iPhone. While she still loves her Leica, Miranda has been liberated by the ability to discretely capture moments on an iPhone, without the weight and visibility of a “proper” camera. For Coastal Currents, Miranda will be showing photos from the area surrounding Beach Hut 123 as well as glass and metal jewellery.
